Thoughts on Success

Success. By definition it is described as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose or as the attainment of popularity or purpose. We all try to achieved success in a day-to-day within our big and small goals. But honestly, what is success?

Your success will never be equivalent to my success. What I may see as an achievement, you might see as a disappointment. I don’t believe in society’s definition of success to have any relevance to anyone’s life. Not everyone wants to be a doctor with a six figure salary, a 401k retirement plan, and a family. Not everyone wants to be an award-winning actress.

Then again, I’m not saying to never try in life to reach success. Just know what type of success you want. The best feeling is finally achieving a goal that you gave yourself. I wanted to get at least a 90 on my pre-calc final and without a lot of studying, I was able to get a 92. Nothing felt better because I worked toward it and achieved it. Others may look down on that and say a 92 is nothing compared to a 100. But, you’ll never get a 100 until you start to appreciate that you earned a 92. Success is simply in the eye of the beholder.

What is your definition of success?

Life Journal 4/28/18

One thing I’m really waiting for is summer. I want junior year to be over like none other. I can’t wait for the sunny days running errands. I can’t wait for the carnivals and the beach days. School is definitely getting harder to focus on, but I’m stilling working on it. I have AP exams and finals coming up in June, so I’m going to finish strong.

img_2598Yesterday I watched the Avengers: Infinity War and I was shook. It was good, but the ending made me so mad. I’m not going to spoil anything, but the ending is just super crazy. I am an avid superhero lover (though I never read the comics) and I was excited to go see it. But then I was jusr shook about the movie and it didn’t happen how I thought it would. The movie also felt like it was cut too short. I’m sad that I have to wait until 2019 to see the second part of it.

img_2633Great news! I got accepted in NHS (National Honor Society). It is such a great honor and I’m happy to have been accepted. Our acceptance ceremony is at the end of May and I can’t wait for that. Have you guys won any awards at school or got accepted into any special programs?

This Is Just My Face Book Review

Image result for gabourey sidibe this is just my face

Hi lovelies! I wanted to try something a little bit different on the blog and do a book review. I don’t think many of you know this, but besides being a fashionista I’m a reader! I love to read and reading a big part of my day-to-day life!

Image result for gabourey sidibe this is just my face

Gabourey Sidibe struggling with depression and loving herself entirely. She thought that she wouldn’t achieve much in life. She was only a nobody girl from Brooklyn. When she landed the role of Precious, it was life-changing as she began to find her purpose in acting. Gabourey slowly grew confidence in herself and her body. She addresses the stereotype about being perceived as being simply a black, obese woman as she is continously faced with people badgering her to lose weight as if concerned for her health. Gabourey mentions the gret impact that her childhoood in Harlem and Bedford-Styvesant had on her. She voices her truth through her witty and sarcastic language that makes you to fall off of the couch laughing. It is unbelievably great! With Gabourey, you know that dreams begin to happen when you finally listen to your heart.

This book definitely made me start thinking about self-love and self-worth again. It’s inspired me to try and focus on the present and myself more. I definitely recommend that you all read it. ❤

Turquoise Jacket & the Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress appears for a third time! Simple and elegant. The style opportunities are endless! For me, LBDs are a staple piece in my wardrobe and they can be used for such much more than funerals. I dare you to use your LBD more often than you do, you won’t regret it.

Truth be told, I have had this coat for YEARS. I’m currently sixteen, but I think I’ve had this coat since I was like eleven. This was my first official trench coat. It has been with me all throughout the years and has been branded has my “fancy” coat that I wear to church and parties (but then I got my orange trench coat which took the “fancy” title). The coolest thing about this coat is the golden-yellow lining, which is an amazing contrast with turquoise and is a fun pop of color.

The heels definitely make this outfit what it is. Any other shoes wouldn’t look right at all. Certain outfits are MADE for heels. I feel powerful in this look. Yes, it’s simple. Yes, it’s only two colors. But, to me? I feel like I’m on my way to rule the world.

One Year Being Jersey Fabulous

img_4119
my easter outfit ❤

Earlier in the week, (Wednesday, April 11th to be precise) I had my first blogiversary for Jersey Fabulous. I am so proud of myself of blogging for an entire year on fashion, beauty, and hair with some lifestyle thrown into the mix. I have grown so much and have become more dedicated to this than ever. Though I have had some rough moments where I lost motivation to blog, I didn’t quit (in my opinion, fashion/beauty and movie/book review blogs are the hardest blogs to be consistent because of the constant need to plan everything in advance like the reading/watching process and photo shoots before the writing even happens).

One year ago, Jersey Fabulous was just a dream that I had forever. I wanted to be a fashion and beauty blogger because I thought it was super cool and interesting. Now, I am a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger and YouTuber. I have met some really cool bloggers and YouTubers my age through social media, who inspire me to better at what I do. I am currently living and improving one of my childhood dreams. Jersey Fabulous has evolved into something else entirely. It has become a mindset for me and hopeful my future occupation. I want Jersey Fabulous to become a lifestyle for me and for others because everyone deserves to feel fabulous no matter what they wear.

The Internet has provided so many opportunities for my generation. I couldn’t be happier for all the things that we are accomplishing and the dreams we are making a reality. If there is a dream that you always had, go ahead and try to make it come true. People may make fun of you and call you names but as long as you love what you are doing and are happy that is all that matters. Especially because there will always be someone who loves what you are doing as much as you do.

I love each and every one of my beautiful and amazing readers. Thank you so much for all of the support. May we continue to grow together. God Bless ❤
