an Easter Glow with a Lil’ Dirty Talk

img_4239

Easter was a beautiful day with that lovely sun shinning behind some spring clouds. To celebrate, the Spring season and Resurrection Day I decided to go for a warm, glowy look. (Not that it mattered because yesterday morning it snowed than rained). When I glow, I like to have a more simple makeup look so it doesn’t seem like too much.

I opted for no eyeliner and just dabbed some – more like a lot – of Dirty Talk from the Urban Decay Heat palette on my eyelids. It was the perfect peach shimmer for the day and complimented my gold toned highlight. When the light it my face just right, I was blessing the word with a fabulous Easter glow.

To keep the look super glossy and glowy, I turned my favorite matte liquid lipstick into my favorite liquid lip gloss. I went with my lightest and most natural looking brown lipstick, I knew that any other color would ruin the entire natural glow I was going for. After I just glossed my lips a whole bunch and viola! That Easter glow paired with a little bit of Dirty Talk made the Spring vibes almost last forever.

Pinterest Makeup Challenge| #7DaysofJo

I know I’m late and I’m sorry. But here is day five of #7DaysofJo! I attempted to recreate a Pinterest makeup look and it wasn’t the best test of my skill but I did my best.

This is the Pinterest look that I wanted to recreate. I choose this look because I based it off the eye shadow colors I did and didn’t have. For some reason, I have an abundance of purple and almost all of its shades. If you want to see my process, check out the link for my YouTube video above.

I mainly used my Urban Decay Naked Heat palette for this look, but I also used other colors from other palettes. My shadows were not as pigmented as the eye shadow in the picture. Also, my eye shadow was more mauve and purple than red and burgundy.  As a makeup look, it is very cute. As a recreation, my makeup does not do the picture justice. I mean hey, this just means to keep working on my beauty skills and step up my makeup game. How do you guys think I did on this look?

Winter Makeup Look

img_0063img_0067img_0066img_0068

I have never done a purple smokey eye before and I decided that winter was the best time to try it. I used a dark purple shimmer for my lid and a dark brown matte in my crease. I built up the dark brown to my desired color, which wasn’t too dark. To brighten up the look, I placed a gold shimmer in the inner corner of my eye. The eyeshadow would’ve looked wonderful with a black eyeliner, but I didn’t want it to look too dramatic. I used minimal face makeup, since I had no need for it. I concealed under my eyes and placed it on the high points of my face. Then I contoured my forehead and cheeks slightly to define my face. I paired off the look with a lovely nude lips and some highlight.

Primer: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer

Eyeshadow: Maybelline The Nudes pallete and Jane

Eyebrows: CoverGirl Bombshell Brow + Liner Powder in 805

Mascara: Wet n Wild Mega Impact Mascara

Concealer: L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in Almond

Contour: L.A Girl Pro Conceal in Dark Cocoa

Lipstick: Academy of Color Matte Liquid Lipstick

Highlight: Academy of Color Strobe & Glow Palette in Goddess

Setting Spray: Wet n Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review

img_1151img_1152img_1157

The moment I saw the advertising for the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette, I knew that I wanted it. The warm earth tones captivated me and I knew it would be perfect for year round looks. I even used it for one of my game day looks. I actually was blessed with this palette by own of my friends for my birthday.

img_7886img_7887

The entire palette honestly coordinates well together with all of its colors. I feel like the palette is so bold on its own that it doesn’t need any other competition. I downplayed everything else to make my eyeshadow really pop. Personally, I didn’t use any eyeliner. I wanted the look to seem more natural, even though it’s everything but.

There is definitely some fallout, but it’s not crazy. The one thing I hate about this palette is that it’s difficult to apply certain colors to the consistency that you want. You have to really build up the color to make it look like it does in the palette. Without a doubt, this palette will definitely be much used throughout the year.

Bright Blue Eyeliner Makeup Look

A fun fact is that this makeup look was created because my black eyeliner was empty. Lol. My goal with this look was to keep everything very flirty. My lips were a nice glossy brown nude. I kept the blush a pretty pink with a shimmery highlight. I used the Maybelline Nudes palette to create a natural smokey eye. To add some color, I used my Jane Cosmetics Water Resisitant Liquid Eye Liner in Navy. The eyeliner was the pop of color this look needed. To keep the natural look together, I used my Academy of Color Nude Matte Lipstick mixed with my L.A. Girl Flat Velvet Matte Lipstick in Runway I believe. The look was really light and girly, which I loved. I had a very nice glow with this look.

My Skin Care Routine

My skin care routine is really basic and nothing special compared to other people’s. In the morning, I just wash my face with water. I learned that if you use cleanser too much than it strips the natural oils from your face.

After I wash my face, I use the Target brand Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 to hydrate my face. But don’t get fooled, sometimes I get lazy and use my body lotion as a moisturizer.

At the end of the day, I wipe my face clean with a makeup wipe if I’m wearing makeup. Next, I use my Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser to get rid of all the oil and makeup build up from the day.

About thrice a week, I exfoliate with Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub and a wash cloth. After rinsing with cold water, I apply moisturizer to my face to return moisture to my face after washing.

I keep my skin care routine as simple as possible to ensure that my face doesn’t breakout with an overwhelming amount of product. Occasionally, I use a face mask but not often. My skin isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty clear.

Embracing Curly Hair

I love my curly hair and wouldn’t have it any other way. When I was younger, I used to struggle with loving my hair. I hated it and wanted it to be straight and easier to manage. It’s been a struggle and took some fustrated moments, before I felt like I could embrace my curly hair. With kinky curly hair, it’s hard to get your hair healthy enough to grow and show length. It took me about three years for me to get my hair this healthy and as long as it is now. Now, I can honestly say that I love my curly hair.
